Working off the clock

How to survive 12-hour shifts? How much longer will you be able to endure such conditions?

I'm at a breaking point. I feel horrible that I didn’t start looking for a new job much earlier, but it’s better to get out of here late than never. I'm too tired. I don’t even have to mention how much my health has deteriorated.

I advice all of you, work off clock is a big NO-NO. Think for a moment that you are working out of the clock (off duty) and you have an accident (car accident, trip, slip and fall, fall from a ladder, etc. ) you possibly will be uncovered of get any worker’s compensation. Don’t do that because nobody is going to thank you. Polish your shoes and your resume and hit the road.

Never work ever ever ever work off the clock!

This company will send its goons after you to recoup a $00.50 Toll.

Never work off the clock.

You answer an email, add it to admin time.

You take a phone call, add it to admin time.

You can't finish your route in 40? Don't you dare clock out to finish.

You can't finish your route in 40? That sucks, not your problem. Its the punk 20 year old DM RMS and RDRs problem.

This company wouldnt do you a favor. You have no obligation to do favors.

Also document everything. Save emails. Save emails to your computer so in the case they decide to fire you you have a boat load of evidence that would get any lawyer to salivate over the settlement.

well said! when I brought up some issues that were going on and rather barbaric and discriminatory, yet the standard for our lazy manager, they stopped liking me. pathetic sole that he is, they "visited me" in the field as a "threat"! so funny! like i'm scared. this company preaches a place safe from retaliation, yet that's all they got. "when the going gets tough, the tough get going", and that's me!

my advice...be vigilant! don't settle for anything less that what you expect and deserve. "a few bad apples can spoil the bunch", and that's exactly what has happened. They tried to recruit my child from college campus job fair...he laughed in their face! This is a dead end job that will like he-l till you get to the end of the road. They will use and abuse you unless you are a "chosen one", and then discrimination comes into play.

Kudos to all those who have fought back!

WOW, I could have wrote most of that myself!

It's great to hear someone I've never met, most likely in a different area, say the same things I do about this company.

YES, love the job, hate the company, and they hate me!!!

Good luck my friend.

Escaping this toxic, demoralizing company must be really liberating.

I can't wait to leave, and get my soul back.

Working off the clock is normal there. Getting less than inflation for raises is also normal. Pushing people as hard as they can and not even slightly pretending they care about them. You ask for a day off for 3 weeks straight and have to check the night before to see if you are off because it is not important enough for them to give you a reply. I did as much as I could for them and got paid a decent wage. Only good thing I can say as my pay went down due to inflation and 1% raises year after year. When asked about issues and you informed them about cause nothing would be done yet issues were supposed to just go away. I have not been this happy in many years since I left. Hard to make a good wage but it was even harder working for such a terrible organization. Every month things get worse with more work with less help. Not going to change as they are supposed to be committed to dsd but just ask if they are committed to keeping the structure the same and not cutting sales reps jobs and see the response you get. A lie or a unsettling look as any fool has seen nothing positive for the workers for 10 years or so and just more work, less help, less training, less interest in workers and less pay. I would really have to hate someone a whole lot to get them a job there. I loved my job but hated the company that hated me back. I always did my best to make them as successful as I could but I could not say they did that for me. It was hard praying for the worst to happen to them yet working as hard as possible to make them successful. When you need a check you feel trapped but if you are willing to work a check will find you.
