Lie Flat -- a response to modern slave owners like Honeywell

Asia is finally starting to get the picture.

“We generally believe slavery has died away. In fact, it has only adapted to the new economic era,” a woman who writes under the name Xia Bingbao, or Summer Hailstones, said on the Douban social media service."

@h1rd does not even recognize his predicament, just as the master intended. Read the wikipedia entry on “wage slavery”. There is nothing wrong with this terminology or analogy. He has been brainwashed to think that this is an ethical state of affairs because the arrangement is voluntary. It is far from voluntary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_ze4AA-p8w

Not a slave..

Tell that to the Chinese person who was quoted.

Better to listen and understand than dismiss and ridicule.
This is something new in China.. or maybe a new spin on something very old (Buddhism? )

OK, one more shot at it. A slave, by any definition, is someone who is FORCED to work, against their will. And forced to work for no wages. They cannot leave their MASTER. They are OWNED, and can be SOLD. Again, one can vehemently dislike Honeywell- but holy mackerel- Honeywell does not have title to any human being. It's like comparing things to the holocaust- you lose all credibility once you claim "modern slave owners like Honeywell". Better to state some facts, and then complain about that reality. Credibility is available when the truth is told.

I don't know. That was a quote from the AP article. Seems to be really resonating in China. The article is specifically about pushback against Chinese corporations and the foreign puppet masters. Googling it shows significant traction and opinion that workers feel like slaves. I think @OP isn't on to something here.

This pretty well represents the new state of the world. Slave owners? I can't imagine what an actual slave would think about you claiming "status" as a slave. Talk about appropriation. I get people not liking the job, the company, complaining about treatment, fairness, whatever it is that is grinding you the wrong way. But stooping to comparing yourself to a slave is just beyond the pale.
