I support capitalism so I struggle with this one. If the market wants to pay them more so be it. What am I missing? It doesn’t feel right for CEOs to make so much but maybe it is a good thing.

DW has provided 50% decrease in EM capitalization, continues to reinforce a sick and broken system and culture , willing to cut our benefits ie savings 7%match, then a few weeks later receive $75M!!! - that is insane! Especially for a poorly run, backwards organization that is seriously sinking - shows the uppers level of arrogance and entitlement
Woods has not earned even one penny. He should PIP himself.
CEO compensation is crony capitalism that doesn’t represent market value. The way their compensation is determined is by boards that consist of other CEO’s looking at benchmarks. The members of the board are incentivized to increase CEO-A’s comp because he is also on their board and will decide their (CEO-B,C,D, etc) salaries in the near future.
Even if you believe in capitalism, you can’t be foolish enough to believe that anyone deserves 1000x the compensation of their average employee. These enormous salaries are d!ck measuring devices more than anything that makes economic sense. These people would still climb to the top like their lives depended on it if you quartered all their salaries. It’s not about money to them, it’s about competing and winning vs their colleagues. Although that money is real, and comes out of your pocket.
I think some probably do, many (or most) probably don't. I do know of at least one CEO who feels he's underpaid.
But then who gets what they deserve anyway?
Life is far from fair.
