Does Quest have the capacity to launch a new good product?

momentum for new products evaporated years ago

I think that almost no one believes that Quest can be close to what it used to be, but still...
I still believe that the company can launch a new good product. Or is there really no hope for that?

They can barely support their current products let alone develop new ones. They are trying to demonstrate sustainable profitability to convince any potential buyer that the portfolio has a future. They won't invest in new product development as this needs a long term view and they are all about the short term. There are investment groups doing due diligence on the them right now.

I would say no. But what does your leadership say? Are they still harping on the short term? Still babbling about this quarter and that quarter’s sales results? The Dell team lasted 4 years, Jeff and his group lasted 3. You can’t create new solid products in a timely manner if your leaders change every half decade or if your leaders are always short term focused.

Look around any new R/D hires? Any R/D teams being created or reassigned to new projects? If the answer is “no” then the chances of a new product out of the current version of Quest are slim.
