Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

So much whine

Why are there so many whiners here? If you don’t like your job or what Macys is asking of you then find something better. This is retail, how damn hard can it be to get something equivalent? Not too damn hard! People spend so much energy in being negative that they could use that energy to better their lives. I just don’t get it. Some of you live in your negativity.

Red badge here and agree with poster below who is a fellow red badge. I have my issues and complaints and understand where colleagues are coming from. But it is best in the store to keep your head down mouth shut and stay out of complaining and gossip. I keep my head down do as I’m asked to do and go home. It’s not worth the time energy or the effort as nothing will ever change. Since I have let it all go and don’t care anymore I feel 300x better. I just show up to do as I’m told don’t have an opinion and agree with everything and work my shift then go and live my true life with my family. I don’t give a moment more than 40 hours.

So your friend tripped and fell. AND no one cares at all yet you wonder why people whine. I have my issues and I don’t express them but I totally totally understand where colleagues are coming from and I get it. I’m a red badge and I see the other side and how it really is. The culture is just horrible and I don’t take part in it. Eventually people will leave but in the meantime, the venting helps relieve the frustration and makes you realize many of the issues are common ones. That’s a big clue too that it’s not just people making up issues.

I have a theory that "whining" is the tie that binds Macy's workers together. Frankly, if you don't complain once in a while, your co-workers will start to hate you. They will imagine all kinds of unflattering things. So, my suggestion is to enjoy an occasional "whine" as it will lower your blood pressure and prove to your co-workers that you have a pair. Be selective, don't "whine" about any old thing. Make your "whine" count. Enjoy your "Whine" like a fine old Cabernet . Sip it slow and savor the taste and aroma. You know when your "whining" properly when your co-workers nod in approval.

Yes, I would whine. But I do think I would look for a another job, because that sounds terrible. Thinking It’s the shoe department..a friend worked in men’s shoes. Tripped and fell and nobody gave a care about her.

let me ask you a question.. if you ran up and down steps for 8-10 hrs a day with zero help from anyone and on your break you felt like your gonna die from all the stress and you can barley eat and this goes on for years not months years !.. would you whine ?

Many professional retail associates have invested many years with macys only now to be treated like second class citizens . They need to let the public know what is going on . That is why there is such a high turnover rate and a purchase is usually an unpleasant shopping experience at Macy's.

It's mostly long timers on here complaining. They're all wanting things to go back to years past. Retail is different now.....toughen up.
