It boggles my mind that a professional marketing team for a major corporation comes up with something as cringeworthy as these new Kate Mckinnon commercials.
Her weird mannerisms and super awkward split at the end with the fake background laughing really puts this one over the top.
And this is the best Verizon can do....

Sure, it is successful because all of us are talking about it. But it is not successful because it is not drawing people into the store to make the switch. That's the ultimate measure of the ad success, is it not? Just because people talk doesn't mean sales go up. It is annoying and makes us change the channel. I call that a failure.
Can't believe people confuse talking about annoying commercial and personality with a "win" for marketing. No it's not. I don't continue watching the train wreck. I change the channel. And then don't buy the product. Another fallacy in America today.

The whole purpose of a commercial is to get someone to watch it. The fact that we are all talking about it means it is working. Annoying or not, you can't help but hear the Verizon pitch when you watch it. Most think she is obnoxious (including me!), but the message is going out. Enough will watch it and buy the service than will complain about her.
Ask yourself: If you buy gas at $3/gallon normally, but could get it for $1/gallon from some place that is painted an ugly purple, which would you choose?

So repulsive I would switch away from Verizon if I was a member .
Verizon may think that making the commercial memorable is effective for recruiting, but this commercial is so repulsive it will make existing members switch to other carriers which is the opposite effect that it was hoping to encourage.

When these ads come on tv I can't change the channel fast enough; these are the second most annoying commercials only to the stupid xfinity drumming ads...
My biggest issue with those commercials is how blatantly misleading they are. They've gotten a smigden better, but still extremely misleading. "Everyone gets $500". like, she's Oprah giving out G6's. We get all these 60+ folks that still believe everything they see on TV. Coming in with an iPhone 5s or flip phones on prepaid coming for their $1000 off of an iPhone 13. Then they get angry with us because the "The lady on the TeeVee said difernt". I spelled it that way on purpose. Then we get a bad survey because all we do is try to sell them and lie...
Those commercials alone have made me want to quit.
