It is true that this used to be a great company where most people actually liked to work. Now it is no longer the same company. Not even similar. There is not much use for nostalgia, but I often wonder what could have been done differently so that the situation in CEE today would not be so gloomy?

The integrity from the top is in short supply. They asked all staff to update their skills profile in November as it would be a major consideration in evaluating who stays and who goes. I did that and no full well that my experience and training is way above everyone in my group. In the end, the supervisors kept their lunch and fishing buddies. There are so many supervisors scared for their job that they could not fathom supervising someone smarter than them. It might sound corny but it's true. If you can learn all the buzzwords and acronyms and rub elbows with the right people, you too will be a supervisor. This is an oil company remember, and full of roughneck types being posted as so called leaders. They are not leaders they are bosses.
