There was a time when you could begin and end your career with one company. But in this day and age, the best thing anyone that’s in their 20s-30s can do to build their career is to change jobs every 3-5 years and never stop looking for new opportunities. Any form of longevity is no longer viable and the longer you remain here the less you will be rewarded.

Honest question. What are some examples of continuously growing companies where tenure still does matter?
You are a troll headhunter.
Give yourself a ‘checkpoint’ quarterly to evaluate if your current skill sets are marketable.
If not, upgrade skills and / or move to a job that can hone new skills.
Stay as long as you, company and compensation are all growing.
Continuous Improvement of yourself. Unlike IBM, find a company that pays for your education. A good company will invest in your future, knowing you'll provide them with a return in loyalty and service. IBM pays $0 for your education.
Really depends on the company. There’s some continuously growing companies where tenure does matter.
Go to a company that respects its employees.
