On their own or being forced out?

I left at my own will and I know I made the best decision. I'm earning more money, have better hours, and I'm out of the retail industry!
Getting laid off in Feb 2018 was the best thing that happened to me. Got a job driving a school bus, regular hours with no holidays that I have to work. Plus on less hours I'm getting paid better that I ever did at Macys.
Regret for not leaving earlier. Life outside the titanic is beautiful indeed
Not one bit.
Also laid off June 2020 after twenty years of service. We had a wonderful group of associates and it used to be a pleasure to go to work. Then a few years ago all the talented people that made Macys out shine the other retailers were eliminated. It became a struggle to make it through the day with system failures and a lack of support and leadership. Sadly there is nothing to miss when you leave. Macys needs to create much better working conditions .
what i regret the most is giving up on the motivation to leave macys.. I toyed around for years to take online courses, study something new. do a tech class and anything but macys.. the exhaustion and lack of sleep and work/life balance made me like a abused dog who got used to the lashes on a daily basis. My goal was to never stick around and when they took away commission which i knew was coming i had no reason to be there anymore..
after 10 years, best thing i ever did!!! hard at first but not long after, i knew i did the right thing. in a better position, more money, and more respect. there is a reason so many people leave and turnover is SO high!!!
Resigned in February after 30 years and I can’t wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. I am happier than I have been in a long time. I will finally enjoy the holidays with my family.
It was the best thing that happened to me...
Laid off last June. Still don’t known why me and why not others. Moved on.
Any regrets? Biggest nope ever!!!!
Got laid off 5 years ago unexpected, didn’t see it coming almost lost my home. Got a package and took unemployment for the first time. It was rough at first. Now 5 years later make more money and am in a better position. While Macy’s is struggling. Blessing in disguise lol. Priceless
I worked at Bloomingdale's and was laid-off last summer. In retrospect, I honestly have no regrets about my departure and now see it as a blessing. Let's just say that there is most definitely a life beyond retail.
Didn't realize how happy I could be.
Left on own 1.5 years ago. Doubled my pay, 8-5 m-f. Best decision ever. Just have to take the leap as scary as it is. By doing this i avoided being unemployed during the pandemic and work for a company that truly appreciates my hard work and rewards it. The keys is smaller private companies. Large corporations don’t care about us
And why? I'm genuinely curious.
