Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

A relationship based company?

Is that what Verizon is turning into?
Relationships have always been important, however, for an ordinary worker it is now humiliating to work here because of the importance of relationships has become apparent. That's my impression. How much can one achieve here through their hard work and not through various relationships?

Well, relationship will take you from MTS IV to Senior manager in no time. And that Associate director will become Director in no time. However, you need to take care of your H1B, all the loyal folks who devotedly worked for you. If you play politics with in your group per your false ego/pride then you will be doomed and your downfall is nearby.

Formula for success

0- Move to Basking Ridge office, otherwise you won’t matter
1- Don’t do any work at all
2- Spend all your time managing up
3- Check your nose at the end of the day. If not brown, you have failed
4- Watch UpToSpeed propaganda cr-p every day. Network with people who appear on there
5- Better yet, appear on UpToSpeed
6- Post on LinkedIn everyday how great and diverse Vz is. Do a lot of virtue signaling on there
7- Better yet, like, and reshare Vz VP/SVP/C-Level LinkedIn posts multiple times during the day. Comment how awesome they are
8- Go back to Step 3

You are welcome

Yes I agree with OP. Some of us are not good at playing the brown nose game and sitting back complaining how others won't do their work for them. All the while collecting a good paycheck. The game of managing up. Meanwhile, many of us will work hard in delivering content while those schmucks continue not producing. I wonder if we are the actual schmucks because we don't know how to play the game and don't know how not to produce work. It has gotten worst with the whiny behavior and disgusted that it is even entertained. These individuals are good at keywords to throw around.

This is supposed to be a layoff site right? Instead it's become wine wine blah blah blah. Establishing relationships is the most important skill in any business it's called networking. I'm getting so tired of everybody bellyaching if you don't like it simply leave. Take a look at your educational level and your skill set what do you think that's going to get you if you leave Verizon?

It’s always been about that. They only promote who they like and refer to each other. If you can’t network, you won’t move up too far.
