Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Stop writing about childcare on Yammer!

If you're working remote currently and caring for an infant or young child fulltime, a year after most lockdowns ended, keep that information to yourself. Definitely stop complaining about the cost of child care on Yammer in response to having to go into the office 3-5 days a week, admitting to the whole company that you've been both a bad parent and a bad employee. You can't give 100% to both your child and your job. So keep that information to yourself and start contacting daycares.

The federal income tax rates climbed from 6 percent in the late 60s to the current rates which are between 28 and 35 percent for most households with an $80,000 to $100,000 net income, such that you now have to have two incomes just to pay the federal government, every year.

Yammer is a disgraceful tool for employees with way too much time on their hands, post that foolishness to Facebook or Instagram on a morning break

When I was growing up, most Moms were homemakers and Men's salaries were enough to support the whole family. I came of age in the mid-seventies when women were propagandized into thinking their lives had no worth unless they had a career. This did not happen organically. As women entered the workforce, companies figured out they could pay women less than a man so they were fully on board. Over time, it was assumed both adults in a family would work full-time and pay for child care services. Slowly men's salaries stopped going up to meet the cost of living and they raised women's salaries closer to make it look like they respected women. If a woman chose to take time off to raise her children; she often found herself back at entry level work. I'm sure things have not changed in that regard but I know that getting a college degree, even a two year degree, puts young people deep in debt before they even start earning. That's unconscionable in a country as wealthy as the USA.

Consequently both partners feel trapped into earning money to pay the debt they will probably have until they retire. The pandemic brought this to light as parents realized just what kind of hamster wheel they had bought into. Unfortunately, once you have kids you are stuck in the trap.

Regarding Yammer (any social media platforms) especially any electronic communication owned by USB; I would treat them as though every statement might be gathered by AI to be used against you at any future date.

Both men and women need to demand they be paid a living wage. Once you reach 30, if you have a college degree, you should be able to support a family on one income. Unless people realize they are being treated like feudal farmers, never able to get free from slave labor and debt, things will not get better. As technology continues to replace human work, there will be fewer and fewer jobs. So people have to be able to earn enough to balance that shortage. Otherwise the United States will continue to devolve and we all be living hand to mouth.

Unfortunately everyone under the age of 75 alive today was indoctrinated in school to obey authority and follow directions. We were forced to read what they chose so reading became a chore rather than a window to knowledge. Most adults have not read a book since college (or high school) and those that do, tend to read pulp fiction. We get our news from sound bites curated to manipulate our minds and seldom stray from our favorite sources so were are perpetually being told what to think, do and buy. I don't have a lot of hope in the future but I do know that children in our culture have been commoditized. All the emphasis on team sports and extracurricular activity makes our kids more easily manipulated by the media and vulnerable. Pressure to be perfect and special is exacerbated by parents expectations. Whatever happened to just hanging out with friends and building a fort with found items in the back yard? Oh that's right, Mom and Dad are both at work so the kids are playing video games.
