Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

July 23, 2021 -- Today is the day that IT at AIG died

Many of AIG's IT professionals will be leaving today. IT will never be the same. All I can say is good luck to those that remain. R.I.P.

Post ID: @jit+1bYBiP9t Why were we let go? Well we cost too much. That is the simple truth. For what I made in the US you could hire 3 or 4 in KL. I was also a SME. I was able to cover all 3 layers of my specialty. The service managers would call looking for me no matter who was on call because I could fix it quickly.
But I was below the line after they redefined the salary grades/titles last year. They did me a favor. I get to watch AIG burn from the outside. That is one fire fighting job I'm glad I won't have.
Good luck to those left behind.

Management folks are just looking for scapegoats to RIF.
In GI, have seen Grade 24 and above taking the promotions and salary hikes every year, but leaving the others dry for years and eventually getting rid of them under the cost cutting scam..oops scheme.

Folks who loyally worked for many years with the hope of getting a promotion or Hike are shown door without any mercy.

Aside from the rifs, multiple people in various positions are walking out. We have experienced several this week. No word from management, just act like they never worked here. AIG is such a awful company. It is truly amazing it still exists.

ID: @jit+1bYBiP9t, because Petey promised the street he'd reduce headcount. Costs haven't gone down, they've been replaced with consultants plus a few new leaders thrown in.
Chap on other post got it right, a disgusting organization.

Ah come on kids, Accenture is not so bad.
You just have to drown out the screaming children and misc traffic sounds you hear in the back ground of conference calls. Then, if you get past these, actually getting them to fully understand what you are trying to communicate to them is another fun filled endeavor. This will be an awesome company again in no time flat! End Sarcasm......

Because they have to so the Street is happy with Petey. I know several IT high level blokes who think Der Fuhrer Repko's plans are bonkers. Most AIG200 efforts are turning up to be big failures. All that money spent hidden behind aig200 accounting tricks is resulting in zero benefit to the long term future of AIG.
To those who were sacked, best of luck to you. To those who remain who actually do real work, the same. To the leadership, you have failed in what should be your mission, but certainly succeeded in feathering your own nest.

Yes. We will see if Accenture and a bunch of offshore contractors inspire confidence in the business's execution of AIG200 work.
It's still the same friends and family structure at the top, though. Nepotism and favoritism infect the leadership ranks. No wonder so many at that level have any idea what's going on.

On the bright side if your computer goes down you get a company paid vacation!

Nice work AIG200! Moving AIG to the next century by sending IT to a consulting company in another country. We know these moves do wonders for executive bonuses, but not so much for customer satisfaction.

Not in IT, but worked with some great people in our local IT department over the years. All of them knew today was the day and all of them worked hard until the very end. Every one of them were let go today. They were replaced by outsourced non-Americans.

AIG is a disgusting organization.
