Did you lose any cashier's? And how many? Did they move to other areas? We are supposed to be getting more SCO leaving only 1 or 2 regular registers. And the rumor is that long term associates would probably be moved or laid off first. So was just wondering did this happen at anyone's store?

Usually, the older generation does not want to deal with technology.
Miraculously and after the hundreds of complaints we somehow have change available so customers can use cash again. Cough Cough. Sales dropped 14 percent since we had to keep lying to the customers about having a change shortage. I wonder if walmart started minting their own coins or did they just admit to a failure of a stupid program
Like a poster said, you can not keep them staffed anyway & a majority of customers want self check out. Now folks will respond with , 'oh no they won't shop here with out someone ringing them up'. But that simply is not the majority of shoppers anymore. It's not Walmart training customers. People want self check out, look at the Costco app and even fast food.
Pay by an app or scan it yourself has been where customers have been moving towards for sometime. The folks that want to wait in a line, simply are not moving forward and probably own a flip phone. Even in pure Softline environments it's moving that way.
The other side of the coin, sure over the long haul a company will save money with self checkouts. No turn over, call in, insurance or scheduling issues to name a few. Its a one time cost.
I have been saying this for a decade... WM has been slowly training their customers to use the self-check outs on purpose. They intentionally keep only 2 manned POSs open so they are 10 customers deep during busy/most times. Who wants to wait in those lines for a 1/2 hour for 10 items? Once the manned POSs eventually go away, they will have trained, like dogs, the majority of their customer base.
I’m sure Most people would agree nobody likes waiting for someone to scan 100 items at self-check! (while they are on the phone) or doing all kinds of extra things!

That's every store I'm sure, it should be 15 or less items. People are stealing them stores blind. Home-office then says whoa is me when inventory shrinks over a million. Them are some smart folks at the top!
Walmart family had a very bad shopping experience in an all self checkout store. Currently all remodels are being delayed. Their experience was so bad that they are now involved in store planning to keep regular registers.
Not at my store it doesn't matter if it's 15 items or 1500..they let anyone come there lol
Self-check is for 15 items or less
It's not normal to only have self-check it's corporate greed.
We couldnt find cashiers anyways. 100 mil supercenter and were 500 hours short a week. Only have 4 mini regular registers. No one lost their job. It gives more hours for self checks.
