Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Scared of Amazon?

CVS is really scared of Amazon and the threat they pose. Publicly cvs has said their not afraid of Amazon, but you and I both know they HAVE to say that, or investors will run for the hills. Just look at Aetna. CVS bought Aetna because of Amazon. And it's also why there building Health Hubs. Every move cvs has made over the last 3+ years has been to put off Amazon's entry into the RX market. >And yes closing 200+ stores would be a big deal. It would show that cvs is bloated, and needs to trim some fat in order to better compete with Amazon.

This is a post someone wrote a few days ago in @3ngu+1b15e91F. I copied it to a new thread because I'm just wondering if you agree with the statements. I often think about this, are most of the moves made by CVS one big market game with Amazon?

Crazy talk cvs will still be around 50 yrs from now. And it’s actually good business to take any competitor serious as far as closing stores why keep an old underperforming store open when you have a new good performing store a few miles away again good business decisions

Well one thing to notice is how EVERY time Amazon makes some kind of "pharmacy announcement" CVS' stock price goes down. So yeah Amazon definitely poses a threat to CVS. Amazon has the financial wherewithal to take on CVS.
