Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Can't attract someone better or ....?

Why can't Teradata attract an experienced CEO with industry experience.

I think this question that someone asked is very interesting. I would not like the discussion to go in the direction of criticizing the current or previous leading people of the company, but I am simply interested in whether this company can even attract a competent CEO who will get the company out of this situation in which it has been for a long time. What are the possible reasons?

It’s like being asked to run General Motors and compete with Tesla. Who wants that job?

A-rated CEO's (and LT Executives) go where they can make a big and visible difference. Even if one were to turn Teradata around, so what, big deal; most of the world doesn't know what a "Teradata" is anyway. That CEO/Executive just put in a lot of effort and no one cared.

That's why Teradata ends up with C-rated and D-rated talent in the executive seats. Basically bootcamp for learning. Anyone successful at Teradata has a chance to do better things. If they don't succeed, no one who matters ever knows about it, and no one cares.
