Thread regarding Coca-Cola Co. layoffs

Why are we hiring more employees so soon after layoffs?

If there was a need for new employees then why did we have to get rid of so many people recently? Layoffs are all about cost-cutting, so how does adding more costs within months of the latest major round fit into that equation? I'd really like to know what's the justification behind this...

It’s cheaper, a lot of companies do this.

The employees laid off were paid more than the new hires replacing them. A cost reduction.

Also a way to get rid of individuals who were not viewed as promotable to the next level. Get rid of them and replace them with somebody’ who might reach a higher level within the corporation.

Also a way to get rid of perceived deadwood or an individual who had pi---d off a higher ranking person.

The list goes on. If they want to get rid of you they do.
