Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

"If it is so bad, why don't you just leave?"

I see a lot of people on here ask- 'if it is so bad, why don't you just leave?'

consider for a moment the person who, somewhat stupidly at this point, dedicated their life to a job as a career possibility for 5-10-15+ years. it's not easy to just turn your back that quickly after everything you have done.

There was a point when being a part of a successful team meant identifying problems and correcting them in order to drive sales, aiming for and achieving greatness, and growing a team of knowledgable individuals to develop the trust of our customers by selling products we believed in.

now its arbitrary task after arbitrary task. audits. checklists. logs. logs to ensure we are filling out logs. paperwork. skeleton crews. fear of unemployment in the current state of the world. toxic work environments.

it is hard to know the next steps when you feel like the rug was pulled out from under you. aim for regional? good luck, they have downsized considerably. move up to store leadership? good luck, positions are scant at best. consider agreeing to a 40+ mile commute? perhaps another region?

maybe it sounds like more complaining. maybe its just talking into the ether.

for some, the fear of starting from square one so late in life is enough to keep you complacent.

I'm 'lucky' in that my decision to leave was made easy due to being written up several times for a small, petty things after more than a decade of never having a write up and always receiving glowing yearly reviews.

Both of you are so correct in your posts...im 2 decade team member who can barely stomach the cr-p now...im really searching for a job in city/county/state,something free of the whims of margin sqeezes and labor cuts for wall street...the changes occurring under wfm before amazon purchased really were the icing on the cake..how much did they blow on the ots consulyants???

Precisely. This is an accurate description of my relationship with the dumpster known as Whole Foods Market.

God, how I used to love it.

I think the only ones asking why we haven't left yet belong to the clueless cadre of STL stooges, regional rats, and global goons who are so intoxicated with id--t self-importance that they quite genuinely can't see how awful they are, and how bloody stupid their ideas are.
