I'm not sure it's possible. I've noticed that everybody I work with seems depressed. Our productivity is suffering but how do you motivate people when we have to deal with constant layoffs, a belligerent manager, no recognition for hard work, and so much more? People just seem broken.

Try staring at a layoff notice for 4 months. Anything from there is up. Half my team is gone on Friday. The other half decided not to wait around.
You were obviously satisfied with what you were offered because you took the job so you should be fine for a while.
As long you are okay with little career advancement, always looking over your shoulder for a rif (reduction in force) and an upper management team that always, always looks out for themselves before their employees then you should be fine.
I wouldn't suggest staying too long, but most of what you see on this site takes years of frustration to build. You have to cultivate this type of distain for a company and that doesn't happen if you are only here a couple of years. Good luck!
This is depressing. I'm a recent hired, but I guess I should be looking for a new job based on what I have been reading on this site.
It is well known in the insurance industry as BAES "Battered AIG Employee Syndrome".
The only cure is a nice severance package or the executive friends and family golden parachute package (reserved for a very select few).
