Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I am looking about detailed history info on EMC Corp up to the acquisition date 2015

As anybody here knows EMC Corp was once one of the four horsemen , one of the mightiest company in the US. Such much greatness and wealth has been accumulated with EMC Corp. So many great managers and leaders have been created by this once glorious company! Can somebody supply me with info about source providing detailed history of EMC Corp? Could be a book could be an online page could be a document? I want to be as detailed as possible and if there are personal accounts and stories even better. Many Thanks and kind regards! Fl.

I’ll offer a few observations about EMC. My arch rival/ friend was laid off from EMC. (It was hard for me to understand? )
He was in a bad way at first but got his legs and is happy and employeed. So if you’re a former EMC’er or worried your number is up, please see my comments below and keep the faith.
In my experience the foundation of EMC success WAS a maniacally enforced customer first- and customer always engagement. At EMC you had to give a sh@t. Service and selling never stopped. Keeping customers happier than everyone else in the industry was demanded and inspected by every person at EMC. Work hard and okay hard but laziness and customer negligence was never acceptable and often career limiting. Excellent products- EMC invested and acquired companies to grow, but every product or solution was FULLY tested for interoperability and excellence before it could be sold to a customer. Their customers were not testing grounds and loyally, willingly, paid a premium price tag.
EMCer’s coveted every aspect of customer relationships and their business past, present, future. Everyone at EMC could followed through to help each other close problems or deals with no regard for which was first or who got compensated or sometimes no revenue. Most EMC badged folks with strong skills worked at EMC circa 1997 through around 2015. So many would probably between ages 45 and 65 today. An ageist might turn up their nose at employing someone approaching or over 50. But knowing many of these folks quite well, I’d argue most all EMC badged during that timeframe have all the grit and tenacity needed to deliver huge results. (development, support, sales, everywhere) vendors should stop with the ageism- find an EMC’er with decent tenure (above) to drive the results your looking for, give the time and resources required, stay out of the way, collect huge results. Just keep ‘em out of my accounts- I want to keep my job too!

Holy cow. What is going on with all of these people coming on a layoff rumor site pining for an old company that doesn't exist anymore. I hate to rain on your parade but EMC wasn't any better or worse than any other companies that were taking off at that time. I am sure you may have had a great experience but I am also sure there were people who didn't see it as the rosy paradise you did. Pining for ye olden days on a layoff rumor site is just odd.
