Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

medical insurance is a joke as a ETW

My contractor agency has horrible insurance plans. 1) is a low deductible plan which basically covers RX's and some office co-pays. 2) is a high deductible plan which sounds great on paper, as it covers most co-pays and ER visits. I come to find out after seeing a physical therapist ( thinking it was covered) I owe around $2000 since the deductible hasn't been met.

I should consider myself " lucky" since I'm employed as an ETW at Nike. (sarcasm) Guess I'll have to shell out my own funds or stop going to see my M.D. since Nike is too cheap to hire employees. In essence, I can no longer afford healthcare nor can I improve physical health. But heyyyy, remember John Donahue cares about you!!!! Remember we're all for " equality" and " social justice"

Bottom line, it’s what Nike pays these staffing agencies and dictates in their contracts. Just ask Nike procurement.

Why are you posting this here? You don’t even work for Nike. Try posting this over at your employer’s page.

Don’t blame Nike for your employer’s healthcare plan. That’s something you should take up with them.

You are an employee of a temp/staffing agency. Your issues is with your employer, not Nike.

@1mge+1bmRpaGF, we have health insurance, not health care. Big difference.

Believe me, the pay cut you'd get if you went FTE at Nike would be more of a sticker shock than your staffing agency's medical insurance costs. Honestly, if you're a healthy person with no history of things like cancer then deny your agency's coverage. Find a general practitioner that works on retainer and doesn't work with insurance. There are many out there that do this because of the overhead costs of working with insurance companies - i.e. having to hire people solely to deal with the paperwork. Take the money you save and stash it for bigger medical expenses or for preventive care.

The really sad part about our healthcare system is that, even if you have medical insurance, odds are you will get bankrupted regardless if you have an emergency.
