Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Remote work is here to stay. Get on board senior leadership or get left behind.

Dear senior leadership, get on board with remote working and hybrid work schedules or get left behind. It’s here to stay whether you like it or not. There’s plenty of employers who now understand the value of remote work and you will surely lose your talent pool: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-06-01/return-to-office-employees-are-quitting-instead-of-giving-up-work-from-home?utm_medium=cpc_social&utm_source=facebook_post&utm_campaign=tofu_content_0_10%25LAL&utm_content=0602quitting&fbclid=IwAR1jAMAvLaWQIsvepexrwh8iFwi55ilcCODnXoA4gZs0gBwWv3064UcfIZc. Signed, a former employee who found a better job opportunity working remote.

MFN is 77 years old and got an extension through 2023 as CEO (yep, he'll be almost 80). So many workers he considered "older" (50+) were laid off during March 2021 this just disgusts me. He is so out of touch with WFH and what the lower level "leadership" (who were hired by friends w/o any relevant experience) are doing at any given moment to further destroy the company (that used to be a good place to work), he should be laid off. That company is about to implode.

Oh yes, and if you believe, as I do, that Centene will be sold or sold in parts fairly soon, employees leaving is a benefit, not a problem.

Many insurance companies with the same products as Centene have remote job openings. Some are specific to certain areas, but others allow you to work from anywhere in the United States. I think Centene, with all it's other issues, is going to find out that the older employees they laid off were not the problem. The seriously old mindset about WFH from the man at the helm will be more problematic as time goes on.

Nice sentiment, and makes for one of those filler articles that incite debate on LinkedIn. But MFN knows that he has most Centene employees by the short hairs, scared and often in areas where there is a job shortage. Companies can dictate whatever they want that doesn't directly violate a law--even mandatory vaccinations, even if you had COVID and are awash in antibodies.

Cigna and UHG are both embracing it. The war for talent is on. Check it out.

Not at this company, never going to happen. There are also too many major companies bringing employees back to offices for this to really be a thing longterm. Example Morgan Stanley just announced pay cuts for employees that don't return to the offoce and want to continue to work from home. So it's a catch 22.

My co-worker was literally just told she had to come back or consider finding a way to go on disability.
