I am sure that there are many such cases, and the biggest reason is, in my opinion, the toxic atmosphere. It has nothing to do with laziness.
Unfortunately, I knew that WFH would only be a temporary solution. How many people would rather find a new job than go back to the office?

Congratulations on the most sensible post of the year .
Congratulations on the most ridiculous post of the year.
The only cry babies are senior level management. They want to maintain their fat bonuses pay raises etc etc. whatever it take low bonuses no pay raises for the worker bees etc etc. what’s wrong with not wanting to go back to office to be amongst the company toadies and sycophants who swallow the bull we are dished out daily just so we can all sit there and sing kumbaya together (aka collaboration 🤪🤪🤪!)
Productivity will be the best indicator. These days many teams are lean because no one is approving any Reqs yet the work continues to be all over the place. Adding even a modest commute to all that will burn people out. Add 0% merit increases and you’ll get a lot of mediocrity going forward. You can chastise your best employees into arbitrarily coming into the office 4x or week, but don’t get mad when a competitor snatches them up and you’re forced to take on their work
Many successful companies don't even have offices. For the last 5 years I went into the office about 2 days a week and did exactly what I did from my living room. Chat with people hundreds to thousands of miles away from me in NYC, NJ, Pittsburgh, India, etc. The real question is why are we stuck in 1990 thinking we need to be next to each other to get things done?
0% merit yet dealing with wasted productivity, long commutes, rising gas prices, vehicle wear and tear, budgeting for clothing. It all adds up to a Net pay decrease.
Please do not let the door hit you in your a$$ on the way out and on your way out please take the rest of the cry babies with you because nobody really wants to work with you all day long and listen to your nonsense.
How about my commute changed from 5 miles a day, each way to 50
Many locations don't have capacity for all the employees and have been rotating working from home for years. People didn't have assigned cubicals and would hot bunk with others.
It would be beautiful If all the crybabies left. No one wants to hear the continual whining and moaning day in and day out. I say Sayonara and the sooner the better.
