Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Is there a reason to stay?

With stores dropping like flies lately, it's more than obvious that every location will close at some point in the next year or two maximum. So what is the incentive for anybody to stay until then? There is no severance, which would usually be the draw in situations like this. So other than fear of leaving something known for the unknown, what else is keeping people here?

Nobody will be opening "stores". This isn't 1990. Stores are obsolete. People shop online now. That's what they need to focus on.

Personal crisis LMAO? There is only 1 reason I would stay until the end, and ONLY ONE. To draw Unemployment. Because you don't get UI when you quit. You only get UI if laid off Or Fired. So I would never quit. I'd wait until I get laid off so I can sit on my @ss for 6 Months (even longer with extensions), and get Paid to Drink Beer on the Beach. I won't sugarcoat it, I won't give a PC answer. I want that extended Unemployment Cash! I will celebrate when I finally get laid off which is what I have been wanting all along.

Some of us have a personal crisis going on that makes looking for another job impossible. My supervisor has been very supportive of me and my schedule is extremely flexible, both of which I really need right now.

There are always lots of reasons people stay in comfortable, known positions. Some people don't want to be bothered to look until they absolutely have to look. Some are scared of change, and of the unknown. Some don't have to work at all, but they enjoy the people they work with right now. Some have romances going, maybe with someone at the store, maybe with someone else nearby, that would be more difficult in a different job or different part of town. Some are simply happy people who are loyal to the company and want to go down with the ship. Lots of reasons
