Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon is the same as everybody else

I find it funny when people complain about how much Verizon has changed or how unfair this or that is now when it was great before...as if anywhere else is any better. Every major company has changed in the past decade or so and none for the better. Everybody is outsourcing, laying off, cutting benefits... We are not special. This is the reality of business and you won't find anything better no matter how much you hope for it because it simply doesn't exist. You need to learn to deal with it or you'll drive yourselves mad.

That whole long post for nothing. Just saying a bunch of nonsense nobody cares about.

Verizon is out here destroying their customer service (closing call centers) while other companies are bolstering their CS teams and providing better support for their customers. Verizon has put stores down to bare bones and I was getting customers DAILY saying they're long time customers and the service (network wise and CS wise) is worse than its ever been.

Stop. Defending. This. Dumpster. Fire.

You're right. I know folks who left and in other companies are thriving. I also know folks who left and the new employer has its separate type of politics and issues. It all comes down to:

1) is your mental health negatively impacted
2) is your physical health negatively impacted
3) are your skills up to date to be attractive to other employers?
4) are you financially stable? (Little to no debt, emergency fund to cover things should you be laid off unexpectedly)

Many of the folks here who complain want things to change for the better and dont want to put in effort. Change in a company of this scale takes time. Theres also a lot going on that folks aren't privy to. It's as if we are multiple companies working together as one cohesive-ish group.

Overall contentment depends on the actions one takes. If one simply chooses to sit and be miserable and complain and spam, we'll they'll continue to be miserable. Maturity is looking at all the factors and deciding if the juice of staying in Verizon is worth the squeeze and if not take the necessary steps to find new employment.

If one brings the same negative attitude to a new employer even if they are amazing, you'll find something to nitpick at and complain.

Verizon is a trashball company robbing their employees with team commissions and RIS requirements. I've started my job with a real company and let me tell you, they're not in any way the same dumpster fire Verizon has become
