There are still too many old folks working here. No offense, but why aren't all of you already retired? We need to keep things moving and fresh, and we certainly can't achieve that with so many old-timers here. Honestly, when I reach some of your age, I want to be enjoying my life, not still slogging for a place like NS.

Yes they need to get rid of those old bats. they are a drag on the rest of with the constant complaints about the tired bones. when covid hit i thought a lot of them would drop dead but it wasnt enough. I think what we need now is the monkey pox.
Since I hired out there have been people complaining about those with better seniority. What you haven't seen is that some of those folks were laid off in the 80's for years and don't have the credits. I know one old head who was off 7 years in the 80's and drove truck after they cut 5 man crews. Another just retired. Laid off in1977 from the track department, worked at a factory and came back to the railroad in the 90's.
I wanna leave right now,but I need to get to 60 to claim medical for my tired bones. I have seen alot of changes as of late,and none of them good. The company will continue to whittle away at any perks you have working here., soon this place will be just another sweat shop with a high turnover. Its probably that way now for many people working here. Face the facts,they hate you and see you as a drag on profits.Are you quite certain you dont want to leave now?

I reckon that depends on what age is old to you by making this remark. I personally know and have known brothers who have stayed well past 60 because of needs for their families sake and some who just have no other reason but greed. Either way it is their job to give up when they are ready although I can guarantee you there are some older guys who would give their eye teeth for the company to have a little age discrimination about them and pay an old farts time out!
I personally have never concerned myself with another brothers decision to work or not work or how many jobs that their leaving would save, for the simple fact that it was not their doing to cut the employee rosters so drastically over the system! Sadly I see the owed generation attacking the wrong side thinking they have the better way than what has been established for decades and not realizing nothing is safe.
Worked there had 25 years to go. Got laid off between management and people that want to sit on there bu-t. Now I enjoy my weekend's off
