Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Mandated overtime

My department requires we work overtime every week. Has been 1 extra hr a day and now it’s 2 extra a day. How is this legal? It’s for “business needs”, but we have been in overtime since January. Anyone else dept doing this? Working from home as a nurse because 12 hrs at the bedside wasn’t conducive to my life, and here I am doing the same shiz at uhc. It’s easy so I don’t want to leave, but sick of this no balance culture bullshart.

Yes, hourly so I get paid but I don’t want the money. The boss logs off on time though. We can’t keep staff because our leadership is so awful. If I refused overtime- could they retaliate?

Exempt employees are not compensated in any way for overtime hours. Non exempt must be paid legally. But hey it’s UHG so who knows if they follow the law all the time.

Do they compensate you for overtime? If not overtime pay, at least comp time?

It’s legal. I had to work 60-70 hours a week to manage my workload. After 3 years of doing this and hired someone to assist me I was terminated and told I did not have the job skills or demonstrated performance for the job. Moved others team members over to take over my role. The ones that rarely worked or were in the office. Needless to say it fell apart when I left and the SVP was moved elsewhere and the department went under another. It’s not my ego speaking just fact. All of these narcissistic leaders that want to cut cost and try and bring attention to their self without rationally thinking of the consequences. Everything worked out fine for me. I now work for an organization with high moral and ethical values. It couldn’t be better.
