That's just wishful thinking. IBM has moved to monthly layoffs/PIPs/firing (whatever you want to call it).
Can confirm. If itis a reorg or something “big”, it’s planned months in advance.
IBM would be better off without the underlying anxiety that people feel they could be fired at any moment. Even vacation isn't relaxing if you feel you should be working. That said, IBM moves slowly on these things, so if you're going to be laid off in 2 weeks, the decision has already been made so you might as well enjoy your time off.
Half of ibmers are relaxing on the job. What are you talking about “properly relax”?
