Got an email from a Schwab side Distinguished Engineer (i.e. senior tech director) who was let go today too. So looks like it's both companies who are trimming today.

I received an email from a former coworker with 15+ years of tenure in which the leave also sounded voluntary. These folks were almost certainly voluntold to leave in an attempt to save their dignity. No way these resignations came on the same day by chance.
I know the Schwab side Distinguished Engineer. He was essentially a Technical Director with Principal role using our old title system. I do not believe he was part of the layoffs, though his goodbye email came on the same day. He voluntarily left for another opportunity. He's been here like over 20 years including contractor time when he started.
yes it's a slaughterhouse out there. hearing about it from all sides.
