For anyone wondering, there will be no increases for non licensed Vision Center Managers. Don’t believe it? Ask your MHWD. Everybody in the entire store gets an increase, except for that role.
So, don’t hold your breath behind that mask you’ve worn for 20 months.
Here we are nearly two weeks after the VC associates have all gotten raises, some as much as $6/hr increase, and VCMs are left sitting in the lab in the dark. There are now part time unlicensed VC associates making more per hour than some VCMs….how much longer is that going to continue?
Not going salaried. Lol
Opticians need to demand their respect. walmart could care less what is happening in their vision centers as long as the market managers get their bonus. No breaks, no days off, lunches here and there no license coverage but still open to the public. I hope that the state boards bust them I hope they get hippa violations I hope Walmart gets all and everything that its due
What I foresee happening, is that they will potentially sh**can most of the VCM’s. Possibly Merge the VC’s into Div1 and then coaches/TLs handle day to day management functions like scheduling or associate/patient concerns/complaints, with a few VCM’s promoted to VCAM to handle optical specific management duties.
It's funny how walmart thinks its above the laws, rules, and regulations. The optical market managers in some licensed states are now putting blinders on and letting the vision centers be open with non licensed staff. The public doesnt know the difference. Stores in virginia especially have associates waiting on customers that aren't licensed and no optician close by it's all about the money until these state boards roll in there un announced and throw some fines to hit walmarts purse.gives opticians a bad name when they worked hard to get a license and then walmart spits on it
if they don’t go to division one they will go third-party.
No it will not be division one. They operate on their own entirely now, hiring, all of it.
The total store will be Div 1 in the end. Vision, Rx, etc.
They can’t go salary; they don’t have enough amount of people to manage by law. I would know I was in management. That is why they never been salaried ever! If anything they will have an Asst and merge Vision to Div1.
Make them salary, work them 60 hours a week, cut 1 vision center per store. The 1 staffer would never be missed. They would have plenty of options to cover staffing. Make the now salary manager cover all the hours Monday to Saturday
Walmart trying to de regulate in licensed states anyway.
Would give walmart more control. Work managers like dogs no overtime and cut assoc hours. The walmart way all id--t market managers over optical anyway
They would just make or keep them exempt.

I wonder this same thing. Now that all of our associates have gotten raises (some significant) they have to balance the payroll somehow. I figure I have 5 or less years with this company.as a manager and then i am retiring. Overworked and underpaid and underappreciated. I see the writing on the wall.
