I’d like to thank EMIT for my layoff in 2021. I didn’t go to FAANG for 3x, but I did use my time to play around with my investment portfolio. Currently up 1.3M YTD. Wish they’d laid me off in 2020 now.

EMIT management is directed from Irving to do what the external consultants tell them to do. How they cover up that fact is the embarrassing part.

BK is PH without a skirt. Yes person focused on cost cutting. More interested in not making a mistake than trying to win. MB made people mad but there was no doubt that he pushed and prodded the organization to not just be better but be best.

They finally shut down the Y2K Project earlier this year.

These are his major accomplishments, in order of greater impact:

Amazing leadership as you can see! I hope this list helps ease up those saying our LEADER does not contribute to the bottom line.

I know this isn’t the place for nuance, but a VP (defacto CEO of a large IT company) ‘s job is a little different than our IC jobs in terms of measuring accomplishments. Generally he’s hopefully fighting and getting budget from Dallas, and making $500M+ decisions , weighing risks of capital / risks of not doing it / risks of doing x in lieu of y (because of fixed budgets and everyone has their hand at the coffers asking for money )/ etc , while also understanding XOM is in the oil business, and emit is just a cost center so we have to serve our customers, and every project should be an effort to either: reduce costs / increase efficiency/ Increase customer (the various XOM units) productivity, all with data digested from a short PowerPoint.

So while you think he does nothing, you have no concept of what the conversations / decisions are like at that level , I for sure don’t.

@1lrd+1cBrmBkU haha, turns out EMIT had good technical talent after all (soon it’s really going to be all past tense too)

@1bqv+1cBrmBkU - What did he do to anger his bosses? I never knew he was forced out. MB was great, easily one of my favorite leaders.

"If you all software developers think you can get a job at amazon for 3X the compensation, then good luck to you hotshots"

The audacity is deafening

MSB has his flaws, but was a far, far more inspiring leader than WAK. Too bad he angered his bosses (also DW used to work for MSB and apparently they didn’t have a great relationship) and was forced out. WAK is back to the old cost cutting days of KP and PH.

The only accomplishment I can think of, it’s not the VP of UIS.
In this clown car, it can always be worse.

I'm particularly fond of his encouragement directed at his own workforce where he said , and I quote, "...if you think you can leave and get a job making 3x as much at Amazon, go right ahead..." (or something very close to that)
