Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

How is the family doing?

Do the Nordstroms still have their heart in this? It’s been 20 years now since they were brought back in, and the boys are no longer young. Are there new Nordstrom family scions, fresh from B-school, coming aboard to lead the company into the future? How is Erik holding up?

The temptation for any or all of them is to cash out and retire as still-wealthy men. Do they devote the remainder of their lives to the company? Is this their duty to the family? Are they bound to see this through to the end?

So how is the family doing?

Apologies, the term I wanted was “aspirational” for people wanting to be seen as good enough to shop here.

Does anyone remember the names for the marketing names for the various segments of Nordstrom business and NOW. They were mostly women, the girl who visits Brass Plum, the old matron who shops St. John, and so forth. Do these still exist, do you use them?

Funny to imagine some of the new categories for the woke and rekt millennial and zoomer crowd today.

Ba1, could be worse.

For those keeping score at home:

Would any non-Nordstrom want to own and run this company? Could $tjx do it? Would $amzn use them as an aspiring brand like Whole Foods, and then integrate Prime lockers and other services into the Nordstrom nodes?

You sound angry. Did you get fired by Pete or Eric? Asking for the family.

Nordstrom is a public company. The company's obligations are to the shareholders. The family should have nothing to do with it anymore. Performance of the company "under their watch" should be reason enough to force them out, not wonder if they want to stay a part of the company. There is no money for them to cash out. The value of the business was all in the real estate back in the day, but it was all sold off. The company now spends days trying to cover the debt service all the leased locations now obligate the company to deal with.
