religious vax accommodation APPROVED

not gonna post exact text of email but the group has reviewed my request. They decided I'm eligible and sent it up to my boss to approve within 10 days.

Still, why does it feel more like a stay of execution instead of a full pardon?

If HR approves is, and is sent to your manager, can he deny it? Do they require a signed letter from priest etc?

My medical has been approved. Also filed for religious reasons. Seems like its taking time to complete, however, it appears they are going to take the full 3 weeks to appove. Will see how it works out. I have heard other go longer than 3 weeks.

I have a valid medical exemption directed by my doctor and it’s not surrounding the fact that I have antibodies. However, I’ve received legal guidance to file for a religious accommodation because there is recourse. Anyone else in this quandary or spoken to an attorney?

There is no valid reason a FT teleworker should be required to take a vaccination. They aren't customer-facing, they don't go into an office. I will continue to trust my natural immunity of 22 mos and still going. I don't need a vaccination for this or the flu. Do some research on mRNA delivery system. Stop demonizing people for the choices they have the right to make. I have always maintained that my personal medical decisions are mine. Not the government's, not the media's, not my neighbor's, not my employer's. My body autonomy has to be sacrosanct. It is not up to me to tell others what to do with their medical decisions. I put no one anymore at risk than a vaccinated person. The data is there. The elite medical powers have finally admitted it. The vaccinated are spreading. Viruses don't mutate without resistance. Stop blaming others for your decisions. Like the flu, this coronavirus is endemic. Pandemic is done. Vaccinate the vulnerable. Which, at present, is people with certain underlying conditions and the elderly. My 21 yr old, healthy, athletic son does not need it, and I'm not willing to risk his longterm cardiac health because a bunch of politicians and vaccination Nazis scream for it.

My high school principal's unvaccinated daughter-in-law, age 42, just died from COVID19 in central Louisiana.

These is a devoutly Christian family who left their fate with the Lord, and the Lord answered with his decision. They allowed the voices of commentators and radio hosts to drown out the known science. They will continue on, a widower and his three children, without their mother.

The Lord brought you the vaccines—for polio, DPT, measles, and now COVID19. We make our choices to take what the Lord puts before us. You live, or die, with that choice, as did Barbara.

I support the company mandate, just as George Washington required his troops to be inoculated with smallpox, 40,000 in total.

Go find another company, if you can't follow simple public health guidelines.

Vote me down, but I will be praying to God for those reading this make the right choice nonetheless.

For those of you who got your religious exemption approved, did you write a statement on your own? Did you use a legal service or use a specific form and get it notarized? How detailed was your request? Thank you!

@2zok+1cIatCA9: United doesn't have to grant the exemption if it imposes an undue hardship on the company. But they DID grant the exemption and then put employees on UNPAID leave. Essentially denying them compensation due to their religious beliefs which is illegal under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

United is a completely different thing. Those are customer facing jobs. United does not have to comply if it's an undue hardship on the company. If they have to hire someone else to do your customer facing job, then they can't accommodate you. You could argue they could just wear a mask and do their job, but apparently the Stasi CDC is going to give them cover on that.

United is going to get hit with a big Title VII lawsuit and it will get very ugly. The snare is unpaid leave. They might could get away with paid leave but unpaid leave is denying compensation based on religious beliefs.

SEC. 2000e-2. [Section 703]

(a) Employer practices

It shall be an unlawful employment practice for an employer -

(1) to fail or refuse to hire or to discharge any individual, or otherwise to discriminate against any individual with respect to his compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, because of such individual's race, color, religion, s-x, or national origin; or

(2) to limit, segregate, or classify his employees or applicants for employment in any way which would deprive or tend to deprive any individual of employment opportunities or otherwise adversely affect his status as an employee, because of such individual's race, color, religion, s-x, or national origin.

You will hear from your supervisor a few different options. Work from home 100% if you never have to interact with others. They did 6 months with this option so that when people are not as crazy about mandates they can bring you back to the office if needed. Another option is testing 2-3 times a week. Working different work hours with fewer people around. Working at a different location that has few people. Have your in person work assigned to another person. Addition ppe. And the last one is to take a leave of absence. Don’t sweat it. There were over 1500 employees that applied for exemptions. They know that they cannot fire that many people when they cannot even fill the openings that we already have.

Also had mine approved. There are various options your manager has to choose from based on what works for your role. I am already at work from home person so we went with permanent work from home and the condition that I can’t enter an AT&T building. win-win.

My coworker was approved as well for religious reasons. There are stipulations though. He has to wear a mask at all times and will be placed on positive discipline if he is caught not wearing one. I am choosing not to be held hostage so my last day will be October 8th. Thankfully I am able to retire.

you should have a choice without coercion of losing your income to say you don't want a medical treatment. religious exemption or no religious exemption.

this is a slippery slope that your children and grandchildren will have to endure.
we gonna have to get a software upgrade every six months?

this medical/big tech tyranny is a very dangerous slope that we will regret going down.

What those managers “think” is irrelevant. They cannot ask about it. Case closed

Wrong. All a manager has to do is deny the WFH accommodation. Just because the JA staff “supported” the request doesn’t mean the department/manager has to approve you working from home permanently. Just like any other accommodation, it is up to the BU to support it or not.

main reason this is only 6 months is because the company doesn't want to give employees a permanent work-from-home status. They will make all of us reapply over and over again. I'm guessing it will be based upon how many "booster" jabs they force everyone to get. Every mandated booster will trigger another exemption filing.

Nearly every person in mgmt should qualify under the de minimis rule. We have all proven we can work successfully from home and the company has to provide nothing more than BAU to allow that to continue. Very tough for ATT to deny a religious exemption for 95% or more.

Be patient and don't be a jerk to anyone about it. Chances are it'll get approved.

“ How will they ever know. They can force us to submit vaccination status apparently but you defendants arr not employed by the company. They say the vaccination status is to protect the company and the customers. The status of your dependents affect neither. And to all the “get your icu reservation now people” we don’t harbor hate and harm on you guys why do feel so angry because some choose not to get vaccinated before more research is done? A lot of people aren’t anti vaccine but would just like a little more information. Studies have shown that around 35% have natural antibodies against COVID from some previous infection. Some of us just want more time to educate ourselves.”

Because you work with a bunch of communists that insist you do as they say or else. The hate is from an inherent mindset that they know what is best for you. Shut up citizen and pick up that can…

Let me state that T openly practices age discrimination when they lay off in my organization for the last 6 years. I have seen the spreadsheets a few times and clearly the overwhelming majority of those wacked are over 55. The reason T gets away with it is you sign a waiver that you will not sue T, otherwise you do not get your severance.

So what I am saying is that if your mismanager puts you on the wacking list for any reason, and if you want to sue T after you are wacked, no severance for you. Plus T will drags out the law suit till you die. Only the lawyers makes out in law suits. So much for protection of religion, or anything else, at T.

unless ATT wants to start questioning people's beliefs and values in a legal setting, they kinda have no choice for most of the folks in mgmt jobs. The past 18 months has shown we can successfully do our jobs at home and, for many of us, it's been WFH for way longer than 18 months with no issues.

The company leadership can't praise all of us for our outstanding efforts on townhalls and then claim work from home has an undue burden on the business. Only the most politically-tainted court would buy that.

And for the pea-brains whining about the unvaccinated and ICU beds, get your facts or get-gone. The vaccinated are taking up as much Covid ICU space as the unvaccinated. Tough to get your tiny little brains around, but stay-tuned to CNN and the NYT, they have more breaking news and cut & paste quotes for your robo-blogging.

Still waiting to hear back. Been a little over two weeks. If they grant the waiver I am prepared to cover the non vax surcharge I expect the company to implement on next years premiums. Could get expensive if they charge a fee for each eligible but non vax family person on the plan.

How will they ever know. They can force us to submit vaccination status apparently but you defendants arr not employed by the company.
