Of course they always say "It's not personal - it's business". Thank-you for your many years of dedicated service dear valued long-term employee #3456. Of course the selected employee(s) getting laid-off where not chosen because they have 3 kids, a mortgage etc. Probably selected based on quality (or lack) of work. Or perhaps he (or she) p!ssed someone off once. Gee that has never happened before. Also - posting something negative about your employer on social media can and will be used against you - so keeping it anonymous is the only way to rant on SM. People are learning this the hard way!

Someone here posted about their layoff experience and process. Apparently there was a clause in the severance agreement about posting anything negative about the company or information about the severance online however someone did. Paraphrasing:

~ Severance amount was the bare minimum and not a cent more. They nickel and dimed the long term employees who were let go. HR told people who questioned their severance to p1ss off and go go talk to a lawyer. HR gaslighting to make it appear like ex-staff should be happy to be getting anything. Ignored people when faced with too many questions

~~ Pembina gave ex-staff one month of benefit coverage and were told to use everything up while the world was shutdown. No extended employee assistance program coverage either. The person who posted said their HR rep treated the situation as if Pembina was doing them a favor

~~~ Pembina revised the severance payout schedule two days after sending it out. People who wanted the severance funds directed to an RRSP had to now obtain a signed letter from their bank (in official bank letterhead) during Covid while people were working from home
~~~~ Insult for injury, it took Pembina over a month to pay the severance out

~~~~~ Some personal items left in the office were never returned to staff
Pembina is the absolute lowest of the low. There is no debating that.
I know of one in the Edmonton area - a family man with 3 children in elementary school - very devastating news - came out of left field - a very dedicated loyal hard working individual. No consideration for the well being of this man.
