Old playbook.

  1. In the early 80’s when CS was new and there were few CS graduates to go around, IBM hired just about anyone who was in a related field, then sent them to new programmer training class and kept them if they passed.
  2. Same thing in the late 80’s when IBM retained factory assembly workers and secretaries into programmers, if they showed aptitude and passed the classes. I worked with a few.
