Just got laid off. Part of a 'company wide reduction in force.'

@5pyf+1cQ2sdpn So let me start out by saying, I am not defending the Management at First Data - the current CEO is a greedy MO-O whose first line of cutting expenses to satisfy the greed of Wall St will always be to cut employees HOWEVER, First Data was not going under. They did not need Fiserv to "buy" them. It may surprise people to know that there were earlier discussions a few times about merging the two companies. And by now we all know that Fiserv did not purchase FD. It was indeed a merger and they kept the FD Management Team. Everyone from FD knew this was going to be the end of the Fiserv culture. People no longer make a difference. And that my friends, is really very sad. FD employees wanted the Fiserv culture. We wanted Jeff. We all got screwed.
We have asked form Day 1 who bought who? FD was going under so Fiserv bailed them out by buying them, but now we use all their cost saving measures to the higher ups get their bonuses while they take and take from us and expect more. I have never been more productive since I started working from home with no distractions. We don't have the office space for everyone. Does Frank go in and work a 40+ hrs week in office? I bet not! The people that got laid off will find that after the shock wears off that there are companies out there that value their employees and will pay for their worth. They are the winners not us that are being left here in the slave labor.
It's a 5% RIF. I'm in the G300 and heard it directly from Frank on a 'Friday's with Frank' call.
any reliable source to confirm it's 10%?
And then, after all the anger and pain and passion here, life intervenes in profound ways. We had to put our beloved schoodle Penny to sleep a few days ago - and all the chatter here really doesn't matter a tinker's damn.
Fk Frank.. destroying a once-great company. Honestly the entire place has turned into a huge joke. Nobody wants to work here.
Best of luck. I’m sure you’ll do fine. This was probably a favor as those of us that remain are not happy here. Frank had ruined us.
There was a company wide mandate to lose about 10% of the staff.
It's not that they were wrong, per se. HR's certainly not going to tell you about a pending layoff. Nor your management, as a rule, if they can legally avoid it. It's just too disruptive. If it's happening, they knew about it all along. One of my least favorite management roles was keeping things like that under wraps for months on end. :(
what percentage company wide?
Guess the HR schills were wrong about layoffs...
Sorry to hear that..hope you get a severance. Can I ask if you were part of OFS or OFD?
I am so sorry. I have been there - Laid off from First Data in 2015. Welcome to the group of hard working people that gave everything to a management team that just takes and takes and takes until you are depleted. First Data and Fiserv were great companies based on the talent they had working for them but with poor leadership you will never feel valued. Hopefully you will find balance in your next opportunity, working for Management that cares about the company in its entirety and not just the bottom line. Wishing you the best of luck!
May I ask what division?
