When my prospective employers call the 800 number to verify my employment with EM, why is it that HR (whoever you are) could not find my records? I am ending up sending my EM paystubs and W2's to my new employer. Other companies have automated and almost instantaneous ways to verify employment but not this EM. What a joke.

OP here, my prospective employer emailed and called again to verify if I existed or not. And on all of the above, HR said I don't. They use my SSN to verify. What the heck is going on with HR.
Same exact thing happened to me! They tried calling every number and couldn't even get to leave a voice-mail. The also emailed the verification email and never received anything. Had to submit my W-2 and paystub.
Nope. They had my file, but no sign of a contract. They asked me if I had a copy I could send
HR is faltering badly. They canceled my health insurance and couldn’t find me using my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER for days.
You didn’t look hard enough; It’s online in employee self service. Fill out the request and it’s immediately emailed.
I asked for a copy of my employment contract - they couldn't find it!
@OP That’s why you provide more than one reference.
you can request employment verification online and they send an email.
I think you can logon and request a letter be mailed to you
Maybe HR shipped their filing cabinets overseas, they could not find your records anymore. Or maybe since HR piped most of it's people, who's going to do this job now. It's very easy for whoever is answering the phone to just say "Sorry, we can't find that person in our system" hang-up phone.
