Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

NOC in Krakow Poland is opening 2021 layoffs

All engineers in CMS network operation center in krakow are being fired from all customers and all positions are moved to… you gussed it India (where they are getting only 20% less money than we do but looks like its still worth it for a cheap Cisco)

@ejf+1cQSNRsx I suspect managed services is going to have an 50-75% margin inside of 3 years due to automation. CMS was incapable of doing this internally until just a few years ago.

this post is about CMS group.. the CMS support engineer/HCL low cost are Level 1/2/3 folks for remote support service for customer like HSBC in case there are issues.. it is a race to the bottom service and HSBC is only looking at "up time and others" and really try to reduce the cost of these IT services. so makes sense to fire all people in high cost countries for Cisco and bring them in cheap countries, in reality, whatever you do has no significance at HSBC head, these bankers has zero ideas about routers and switches and hence you will be a number. this job is only means supposed to be just one year and you are supposed to be moving on after x years.. granted if you are at 40s and 50s and it will be harder for you to get a PHD in amazon, hence set up a side business like buying and renting house in Krokow as the Gig. at the end all of us need a stable income,..

I was looking at these chuck and Maria keep talking about innovation and cloud service, yet themselves has no idea how hard it is to switch during middle of what you have been liking to do ..

for Krakow people, they can head up to Germany if still young and get good jobs there.. or other govenrment sectors, all our old managers now lands in jobs in nice place and get a good stable job.. sometimes, we love the Switzerland and Neitherland life style and social welfare.. no wonder..

people do need it sometimes..

If there is a group already established you know where doing what you do, it is just a matter of time before you are on LinkedIn looking for a new job. It is better to get a head start and don’t be like me when our entire team was let go. No job is secure.

Continuing to send anything over to india is an absolute joke. First, the bulk of the groups there are as incompetent as any, no doubt the worst at cisco. Remember when we shafted customers and moved call centers? There was not one customer that said "oh this is great! I gave you $30M and finally got that team that can't speak my language and has the level of knowledge that my mail room guy has. Thank you!!". Then we make our already sketchy code even worse buy letting lightweights from there handle it. I've looked at some of it and have found basic phonetic errors on top of other stupidity. We have to check every document the centers create to be sure they have correct grammar before even looking at the technical content. Then, not being happy, we bring cities worth of H1Bs here with the incompetency. Too many have been bumped up the management chain. Absolute joke what this company has turned into.

Watching Cisco's attempt to lead the race to zero has always been entertaining...

OP, honestly, I'm not sure it is about saving money (only 20%). I would be more inclined to believe that some VP, SVP or whatever the title is, has a lot of connections with India and absolutely non to Krakow.

I wish you best of luck, Krakow.

why do we even have CMS? is this the acquisition of netsolve back in Austin, TX?

I know beside one vendor, HSBC UK, no one else purchase it and decommed product or service.

this is to compete with HCL India and infosys on cheap labour, not going to win.
