It's a bit sad because most people I know who strive to get promoted here do so just to open up opportunities in other companies which they go to very soon after the promotion here. I, too, tried to get a promotion, not just for a slightly higher pay but to get out of here as soon as possible. It seems to me that rarely does anyone want a promotion with intention to stay here?

I am one who wanted it, and frankly am long overdue for it. I don’t want to leave, and if I don’t get it this cycle, then I’m out.
you will not get one even after waiting 20+ years..There are lot of jobs outside Cisco that value your experience and skills.
I would stay IF I could get a long overdue promotion. I'm heading out because I can't get one.
A promotion in job grade or a higher position?
Accomplished both and not going anywhere.
