If you want to see your career die, feel free to join Ascension. We are quickly becoming the company that people are joining only because they have no other options. Yes, I am jaded and pi---d off after seeing who got promoted in the last round, but that doesn't make what I'm saying any less true.

I benefited tremendously from their cheap outsourcing prep. Too cheap to give us PMs or SDEs? Fine, I'll do it myself. SAMs spread too thin? Fine I'll do it myself. Have to jump through a 1000 hoops for a report or an interface? Fine I'll do it myself. I wouldn't worry about those who choose to stay: "Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate".
I'm personally not worried about who got to keep their job, I made good money working for Ascension but yeah, it didn't do my career any good. The last two years we got "breadcrumbed" and siloed into all of our own little disciplines. When we worked for the local ministries we were more of a generalist, working across silos. Anyway, the market is looking for generalists now and most of my generalist skills eroded while I worked for Ascension.
