Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Give it your minimum

All the companies that implemented WFH during the pandemic saw an increase in productivity. Now that they're stubbornly determined to bring us back to the office, I say we give them our minimum. Let them see what they're losing by forcing us back. I have no intention to go out of my way to finish things in time as I did from home. Why would I? If enough people do this, they'll feel the pressure for sure.

As soon as we get back, my “friend” coworkers and I already plan to have a catch up social in one of the conference rooms like we used to precovid. The best thing they could do for production is have us separated, working from our respective homes. We are all good at what we do so we ki-l it when we do it, but they thought 50% effort was great until they saw what wfh did. When we get back, 50% will return. The other 50% of my effort will have to go into putting on pants and starting the car.

There are undoubtedly some folks who are happy and prefer to be back in the office, but they are by far the exception rather than the norm. Multiple studies and surveys of office workers across industries back this up. When the Bank hyped up the "Big Return to Office Day" on Sept 9th and less than 10% of remote employees returned then it's obvious where things stand.

Why can't BofA allow back-office non-customer facing employees to work where they are most comfortable? Most of these jobs are fully functional remote, so it begs the question of what do we stand to gain by assuming more risk by returning to the office? Just repeating this id--tic line about being an "in the office company" just doesn't cut it.

It's a fine observation to make but you have no idea whether or not their motivation looked bleak while they were sitting at home.

There are a few that genuinely do want to be there. The managers who enjoy lording their status over their subjects and seeing every behind in a seat... the social butterflies who don't do very much work anyhow... and those who have had an EXTREMELY hard time running around on their spouses with no excuse to get out of the house. ;)

It's the bank adhering to the latest (and one of the oldest) propaganda plan. Lie, then repeat the lie, then keep repeating the lie till the lie becomes reality. And oh by the way...the pressure will increase and then there will be threats. Mgmt is like a bunch of school yard bullies at this point.

I totally agree with giving the minimum. I expect everyone to become major clock watchers so as not to stay in the environment on second more than they have to.
