Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

1-week pay withholding in 2020?

Is the 1-week of pay withheld in January 2020 (due to payroll schedule change) issued to you when you resign/term/retire? If so, was it included on your final paycheck or issued separately.

I recently left Allstate and when speaking with benefits/HR, they are suggesting we were in fact compensated for that 1-week over the course of 2020. If my memory is correct, that is not true which is why a loan was offered. Not to mention the mass confusion and concern which led to the payroll changes being pushed back from 9/2019 to Jan 2020.

Pay was not withheld, the pay date shifted. For example, before the change, if you worked from Feb 1 to Feb 12, you were paid for that work on Feb 12. Now if you work from Feb 1 to Feb 12, you are paid for that work on Feb 19, like every other company. If you leave the company, you are paid for the work you did on the next pay day, just like everyone else at the company.

How hard is this to understand? They clearly explained it months ago

We were not withheld one week of pay. This was clearly explained in the emails that were sent before and after the fact. In order to correct the timing of pay from before to after they had to hold the pay for that week. We still got paid for it it was just moved in timing. From what I was told this was also provided as a document explanation in the layoff packages in 2020 as well.
