I started working here six months ago. Yes, this is my first job, but I still had some expectations, including not being lied to at my interview and beyond. I was told and promised certain things during the recruitment process that turned out not to be true once I started working. Each time I tried to bring it up, I was brushed off. I didn't expect something like this from a big-name company such as this.

The employee/employer is not based on honesty and has not been for at least 40 years. You need to concentrate on doing what is best for you and you family. The in no requirement for honesty in the interview process. No swearing on the bible or such. I would feel free to embellish so long as I have the skills to back it up when assigned work. If you make a mistake and wind up in a he-l ho-e try to say 6 months before looking for something better. That way it was a successful 6 month contract in your next interviews.
Welcome to corporate america and more IBM. You will be caught in a game of he said she said. Not worth complaining, it just moves you up the RA list.
IBM = I've Been Manipulated
"There is almost certainly some fine print in your employment contract ...."
That's the problem ... most of us at IBM don't have an Employment Contract, except for certain Senior Managers. If we did, this kind of garbage wouldn't happen.
How do you know an IBM Recruiter is lying? Their lips are moving!!! 😏
Well, uhh....welcome to IBM. I've been here far too long myself. Ive decided to take on a new job role within the company in order to build more marketable skills so I can get the he-l out. If I were you, I would do the same. Use it as a stepping stone - just dont wait years like I did, hoping things would get better, because they wont.
Some old stuff... different day...
We teach kids to be honest and play fair...
Then when they ask why life is as it is... we tell them... "No one said life is fair"... LOL!
Hypocrisy is the nature of humanity...
There is almost certainly some fine print in your employment contract that says that the written contract is the entirety of the agreement between you and the employer, regardless of any other promises or indications that may have been made.
Is it legal? Yes. Is it ethical? No.
OMG…this is business as usual at IBM. Did they promise you would be a director in 5 years!!!
... but always ask for an email at ibm
Yes, this happens often at ibm. Managers lie to fill their hiring ticket.
Sorry that happened to you but always ask for an email at ibm.
You should talk to your second line if it's urgent.
If it’s not in writing, it’s not promised.
