I haven't been here long enough to have witnessed layoffs. Not sure I understand this whole Blackstone thing, but I guess it is not good for those of us in Investments+ in L&R? How much notice do you get for a layoff? Just wondering what signs to look for. Thanks!

IT had 4 months notice for the July event. I would rather have gotten the same day notice. If you only have a couple of years, get out now. Unless you have some skill set that is in heavy demand and you don't want to start looking then hang around. Eventually they will drop a ton of work on your plate, give you a minimal raise and tell you that you are under performing. Then you will know you are next.
Last layoff at HDi the folks were told in the morning that that was their last day. No warning
Make friends with the Executive Assistants. They know everything :)
I'm sorry how have you not seen layoffs at aig yet?
AIG is ALWAYS looking for ways to reduce salaries. If you are a young newbie making very little, you will be ok for a little while. You need to learn what you can and move on.
As for layoff notice, I have witnessed both ends of the spectrum...your out and LAN ID is locked immediately...the other one has been months of notice. GL to you.
