Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Raise is just one of many reasons

Are you considering leaving here and if so what are your reasons for leaving? Some mention they go for a raise, but in my case, a raise is just one of the many reasons I gave notice.

It’s simply not worth staying at Oracle for long. This may once have been a company where a career could be built, but not anymore. Just look at what other big Tech companies are doing and what Oracle is doing and it’s easy to decide if you should leave this company. A lot needs to be changed by Oracle if it wants to keep the best people.

Love the Kmart analogy. Oracle is a waste of everyone’s time. Get out on your own. You will feel better about leaving on your own terms.

All of these comments are spot on. I’ve been in a GBU that since acquisition many years the culture and mgmt toxicity are literally among the worst I’ve ever experienced; and I haven’t worked just desk jobs. What I just noticed over the weekend is that they aren’t really even publicizing “job changes” and a colleague of mine who was recently “promoted” wasn’t given a real promotion or raise; so obviously they’re still going entertain offers for more money. Oracle is what Kmart was in the retail space. They don’t even get mentioned in a cool tech news any more. Larry paints his beard darker and darker.

  1. Useless meetings where people shout to make their presence.
  2. Management don't know any directions. Their only approach is to put pressure on employees to get blocking work done.
  3. Credit stealing - no one can put efforts and claim its results and benefits fully on his name
  4. Obsolete products - we are still using old RDBMS and Monolithic products
  5. No Respect - respect goes to guys in hyderabad or bengaluru.

Despite no raises I stayed because the benefits and insurance were very good, the people I worked with were excellent and I really enjoyed the work I was doing. My Entire department was cut in 2018 but even if it weren't, I probably would have bailed at some point between now and then because one or more of those things I stayed more would have been taken away, and that would have been it for me. Just like the first poster here, the toxicity would have crept into my org and that would have been it for me. Getting RIF'd was the best thing for me in the long run because I have good memories of my time there and wasn't subjected to what was to come.

More money is certainly a consideration for me, but truthfully, the past year and a half has been so toxic and frustrating that I couldn't imagine staying here any longer. It's been the worst that I can remember from my 10+ years of service here.
