Thread regarding Aetna layoffs

I miss Aetna

I was laid off roughly a year ago and while I've managed to find a good job I still miss Aetna. It's not the company, it's the people I used to work with. I still think I got extremely lucky to get as great a team as I did. I know I'm in the minority here, but if I got called back to my old position with the same people, I'd accept without hesitation.

Many People were laid off in March of 2021 in the IT data center in Middletown, CT. CVS reduced the IT department by more than half and their jobs were given to India. Again some people were let go immediately and the ones that had to stay a month had to train the group from India that took their jobs. They had to do it in order to get severance. CVS changed the severance package before the lay off and only gave employees 13 WEEKS of severance and insurance and most employees were there for MORE than 35 years. When CVS took over everything changed for the worse for the employees at AETNA. CVS sucks as a company!

You probably worked in ATL and was one of the good ones. Keep your head up, totally not the same place you remember.

I was laid off in 2020, my job at Aetna was “eliminated” as part of their “CVS consolidation”. No exit interview nothing, they sent a person to my door to pick up my laptop, which I had to leave outside on my doorstep - real personable- it was like I was fired! And it was so heartless to do that during the pandemic. So great of you CVS, you really care, that heart logo and corporate mantra garbage -you really live that … it’s amazing - perfect time to consolidate a corporation and put people that helped you be profitable during a pandemic on the street…. And to do it during a global pandemic while you continue to tout how great you are in the community- but what about your own? I was even forced to train my replacement. If you are successful and move up their ladder, watch out - it just makes you a better target for layoffs and they have layoffs every November, and typically do so quietly. But there is always a tiny blurb in the Hartford Courant about it, So that can give you a heads up… All I can say is that I worked with great people but the management continues to degrade. Aetna post CVS purchase and without Mark B is just awfull. And it is turning so woke… I miss my team and coworkers but I would never go back.

Aetna as you knew it no longer exists. Everything has changed as the company becomes CVSHealth. You are nostalgic for something that is past and gone.
