Thread regarding Optum layoffs

When little stress could be actually good for you

The better employee you are the less valued you will be, that’s almost a rule here. To those who are going through a stressful period now, I can only say that layoff is the best thing that has happened to me here. If I hadn’t gotten layoff, who knows how long I would have delayed getting out of here and wouldn’t have given myself a chance to be in a much better place. There is life outside of Optum.

Are clinical staff finding things better at other companies ? Are there any good managed care company that care just a little about their employees?! This stress is unreal!!

Translation of Boomers/Boomer mindset: We don’t compete for talent, talent competes for us! You owe us your life. Work is your life. Dedicate your soul to work. Puritan nonsense etc.. boomers
Then they wonder why there’s a high turnover, teammates walking out, or go to any excuse other than themselves.

People are still being laid off? What departments? I don't understand why they wouldn't offer you another position within the company that is on mandatory overtime? Sounds like a game of chess to me.

We are more productive working from home, no office gossip, office politics, no forced socialization, no se-ual harassment, what’s not to like. We learned by doing, taking on new challenges, and always looking for opportunities, most bosses and coworkers didn’t mentor at all, they either just minded the store or preferred that we figure out our jobs by ourselves. Done living to work. It's crazy. What type of a life is that? Global laughing stock
