Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

So tired

Are you also exhausted to the maximum? I don’t know if I’m more tired of the amount of work that several people should be doing or the completely unreasonable new manager.
USB has always squeezed people but lately it's out of control. I am mentally broken and I think I will need a very long break before I move to another company.

So many people at USB feel this way, they don't even complain about it anymore. They accept mental and emotional exhaustion as a normal part of their job. The middle management at this company is evil. Their only talent is treating dedicated employees poorly. USB is a miserable place to work.

I feel the same way. I've heard it from a lot of people lately.

My job was eliminated 11 months ago. I had been there for 24 years and lived through my fair share of layoffs and re-orgs. I never worked for a large corporation before so I don't know if the culture at USB is different than others. I do know there is a distinct systemic management style that demoralizes hard workers and promotes a lot of undeserving sc-m bags. Every time people are eliminated, the work gets passed on to the survivors and never lets up. There is always a shiny new project and management forgets about all the clean up outstanding from the last 3 or 4 projects plus the BAU work that supports the whole ball of wax. The re-orgs only complicate the problem because they put new managers in charge of new groups and nobody can figure out who does what before the next re-org takes place. What a sh-t show! Even after all these months I am still recovering from the years of emotional abuse I have endured. It's like a really bad marriage. You only realize just how bad it was when you get away from it. I suggest you look for a good psychotherapist to help you. I would not trust that "wellness" hotline. Go to someone who is has nothing to do with USB for your own peace of mind. I wish you (and everyone from USB) the best of luck in finding a nurturing and satisfying work experience. You have paid your dues. So don't settle for anything less. Approach any new job as though the company (not you) were on probation and if after 90 days you are not happy, look for something better.
