Thread regarding ADP layoffs

Covid Chaos

Is ADP seriously using new hires as a scapegoat for recalling employees? New variants can cause chaos to business, but they can also endanger employees. Payroll is essential, but it is not essential to risk employees’ safety for those who can do their jobs at home. I’m sure new hires value their safety over partially open buildings and free coffee….

Am I understanding this correctly - existing employees aren't forced to get the vax but they do have to be tested if they don't have the vax. In the meantime, all NEW hires have to be vaxxed - is that correct?

If people have objections to the vaccine and refuse testing is that grounds for termination? Or is that ‘manager discretion’ like every other rule that gets bent (i.e. unpaid out, endless days of bereavement etc.)

First, I don't believe all of your right wing friends are vaccinated. Or maybe you only have 1 right wing friend. Second, it's still your body your choice. If you choose not to get vaccinated, you also choose to lose your job. Either way, it's your choice.

If you don't want to get vax then get tested. If you don't want either, then don't let the door hit you on your way out.

No existing employee is being required to get the vaccine. The requirement is for Covid testing if not vaccinated. Pretty sure they’re within their boundaries on that part. It probably also helps limit their liability if there is an outbreak at an office. They can show they took extra precautions to try to keep the spread down and employees safe. The courts have upheld companies requiring the vaccine so far so the measures being taken, which are short of that, are most likely reasonable from a legal standpoint. Whether everyone agrees or not is another story. Some employees may want the vaccine required for all whereas some do not. It’s their call though either way.

Has a line been crossed here with that email? Don't employees have a right over their own health and body? What is the need to mandate an experimental jab that is proven to be ineffective. I know it is mandated for new hires but even that seems far reaching.

Thoughts?

Vaccinated associates can spread the virus too, so shouldn’t everyone get tested??? Should have added in that email that testing is on your own time and dime but its warped to think this ‘leadership’ team can get it all together and plan ahead. Do what you need to do to protect yourself because this company will NOT protect you over tax breaks or profits.

A good example. Many more surveys exist about how this demographic will be affected most.

Definitely disagree with you on what demographic is least vaccinated. At least where I am at, it’s the right wing conservatives that are anti-vax. Regardless, the new hire excuse was lame, especially for departments that have seen more than 1/2 their staff laid off with no sign of new hires to come.

It was a laughable message from Carlos for sure. Using new hires as a scapegoat makes ADP look desperate. It's shameful.

We all know the new variants are being spread by those with or without the jab yet they are requiring those without the jab to prove negative. People of color including bl---s are the least jabbed people. This just creates more class warfare and equitable issues for ADP.
