Trying to explain to an anti-Vaxer

Who needs protection from Polio, Hepatitis, Measles, Mumps, Small Pox etc? It’s not like anyone ever died from any of these things.

Who knows what’s in these vaccines? I know what’s in every other medication I’ve ever taken.

People still get these diseases so they obviously don’t work. I don’t care that the people who are vaccinated that get the disease, generally get it much less severely than someone who hasn’t been.

It’s against my rights to make me get vaccinated. Ok, don’t if you die you die. You could always just choose to get the vaccine in the first place.

The government are doing this to control us and take away our rights. That’s right, the governments all around the world have agreed it’s time to make everyone wear face masks and get vaccines so they can be controlled by Bill Gates using microchips. The Chinese and US governments following similar policies as usual!

What would a medical doctor have added?

I imagine most of the doctors in Texas are currently swamped by covid cases and might be a bit busy.

You can help them out by getting vaccinated.

I like how the email looked like it was written by CNN and a lawyer with no discussion with an actual medical doctor.

The mighty dollar always rules. The people to walk away for not getting vaccinated will be office personnel, since field hands are at the mercy of the operator's requirements. It's sad that the operators care more about their people than the service companies.

All about the liability. If someone can claim they got it on a rig and sue. Remember the vaccine neither prevents the transmission or the disease.

Just know your rights. If Baker requires it and anyone misses time or needs to seek medical treatment from the vaccine, OSHA requires is to be declared a work related injury and compensation is required.

There isn't going to be any mass walk out. Granted, there will be a few die hard, anti-vax people that would quit on principle, but really who can walk away from the money in the oilfield right now when you get a huge amount of time off? More and more operators and drilling contractors are making vaccination a requirement to work on their locations or rigs. So why not us as a service company? In order to send our crews to their locations to work and generate revenue they already need to be vaccinated. Our competitor (SLB) has already mandated this for their offshore employees, so we need to as well in order to stay competitive and remain flexible regarding crew scheduling.

At the end of the day, our clients don't care about personal views on vaccinations, they are just there to make money. Avoiding the potential of Covid shutting down their operations only makes sense when profit is the ultimate goal.
