Unfortunately the mainframe has way more than 10 years left because no one knows how to migrate off.
When I started in IBM in the eighties, it was the largest company in the world by market cap. Now it is only a fraction the size of number 100 in that list.
I think, it is soon over. Somebody will take IBM out of it's misery, on way or the other.
I think the installed mainframe base has more than 10 years left?
Or have cloud migration / replatforming tools and methods really become that good?
Nobody is surprised. IBM is on its way out. May take another 10 years, but on day it will cease to exist.
